HEREFORD United have slashed admission prices after an "unacceptable" Endsleigh League Third Division performance against Chesterfield (on Tuesday January 24th 1995). A mere 1,673, their lowest crowd of the season, saw Hereford beaten 2-0 at Edgar Street, and supporters at next week's home game have now been promised a £2 reduction from the normal prices of £7 for a seat and £5 to stand.
"The board decided that fans had not received value-for-money and discount prices will apply next Tuesday in an effort to redress the situation," the managing director, Robin Fry, said.
The Bulls next played Northampton at home and the crowd increased to 2,365. And the Bulls won 2-1.

HEREFORD United are sponsored by Sun Valley and Haymarket Publications have published a feature about sponsorship
A more tangible benefit than being thought of as the town's best employer is being thought of more often. Ron Parrott of Hereford United, who are sponsored by Sun Valley chickens, says: "I don't think you can honestly say they're going to increase business as a result of sponsoring Hereford. But there is some sort of kudos attached to it and I disagree strongly with the view that fans don't notice. I think that, subconsciously at least, when they are faced with three or four named products, they'll choose the one that sponsors their club."

Sept:
ACCORDING to the Independent the Bosman ruling could affect clubs like Hereford United.
"THE only solution would be to put your young players on five-year contracts as soon as they turn professional," Robin Fry, the managing director of Third Division Hereford United, said, "which would be the swiftest route I know to bankruptcy.
"It's all right offering someone like Eric Cantona a long contract because you know he is going to be a success, but the fall-out rate among young footballers is very high and you would end up paying a dozen lads who hadn't made the grade in the hope of holding on to the one who has. Alternatively you watch him walk away to Manchester United for nothing."
Sept 6th:
Michael Roberts resigned as a director of Hereford United. He had been appointed in June 1991.
Oct 3rd:
HEREFORD United's Edgar Street ground was yesterday hit by a suspected arson attack, which destroyed the supporters' club and part of the main stand.
The club was built in 1973/74 at a cost of £200,000. It was officially opened by Joe Mercer in a special ceremony in 1974.
And for the next 21 years it became a much loved part of Edgar Street.
Until October 2nd.
The fire was believed to have been arson and some months later a man from Plymouth did face charges. However there were many who thought that others might have been involved.
Here's a report from the time.
Football club bosses last night pledged to play on despite an arson attack which caused hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage at Hereford United's Edgar Street ground.
More than 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at its peak in the early hours yesterday.
The Third Division club is now in a race against time to make the ground safe for its game against Torquay United on Saturday.
Structural engineers have been called in to assess any damage to the main stand and the Football League will have to be satisfied with the safety of the ground before the game can go ahead.
The blaze started shortly after midnight on Sunday and gutted the Sportsman's Social Club and then swept into the second floor Starlite Rooms above.
Severe damage was caused to offices and the bootroom with footballs distorted out of shape by the heat.
Police believe an accelerant was used to start the fire.
The club will have to assess damage to the electrical systems, computers, phones, security TV, public address systems, photocopiers and other machines.
Arsonists are believed to have struck at the club last Tuesday but petrol poured through a door failed to set it alight.
Managing director Robin Fry, dressed in a tracksuit as he cleaned up said "We have had two years of vandalism - this is the ulitimate."
But he reassured fans everything would be done to make the ground useable for Saturday.
Director and club secretary David Vaughan stressed "The main business of football goes on.
"Assuming the fire was started deliberately I fail to understand the mentality of people who do that sort of thing."
To add to the problem of the fire it was later revealed that there had been problems with the insurance.

A BAD week for Hereford ended well. Six days ago the supporters' club and part of the main stand at Edgar Street was destroyed by a suspected arson attack and they were burgled on Friday night. But they stole yesterday's match against Torquay when Richard Wilkins scored a 90th-minute winner.
Oct 28th:
FULHAM 0 Hereford United 0 (comment from Fulham's Phespirit site)
THIS awful match, scratching a draw against Hereford, sees us slip to seventeenth in the table. The standard of football is so terrible that Ian Branfoot's position as manager is firmly set as a subject for much terrace scrutiny and grumbling .....
However, even in these lean times the football fan can find consolation. Now, come the future years when Fulham reap success, Phespirit can self-righteously claim:
"I was there when we drew 0 - 0 at home to Hereford."
This match was such a dire spectacle that the martyrdom of attendance affords Phespirit total absolution for any prior or subsequent football sin. Perhaps Jesus himself might have been spared forty days in the wilderness had he chosen instead to been present at the Cottage this night .....
Andy D'Urso was in charge of this game in which he sent two Hereford players off.

FROM the Independent: Cardiff moved up six places in the Third Division after their 3-1 victory at Edgar Street. Carl Dale, leading scorer in the division, scored twice - in the 46th and 81st minutes - to take his tally in all competitions to 18 this season.
Hereford dominated the first half but the Welshmen went in front immediately after the break when Dale pounced on a mistake by the Hereford goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie. Six minutes later, Darren Adams put Cardiff further in front with a header from 10 yards.
Hereford scored through Steve White in the 56th minute, but Dale clinched victory nine minutes from the end when he cracked the ball into an empty net after MacKenzie could only parry an effort from Adams.
