The aim of this site is to feature Hereford United related news and match reports from 1990 to 2002. At present the content is very limited for the early years but from 1997 there is more information, much of which was originally published on Peter Povall's HUFC site and Terry Goodwin's www.hu-fc.co.uk site. February 1997

Feb 1st:

HEREFORD 3 Wigan 1 (report from the Sunday Mirror) Att: 2532

After 15 games without a win, the Bulls have now beaten two promotion candidates in seven days.

Adrian Foster opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, beating Wigan keeper Lee Butler with a sharp shot from 12 yards for his 10th of the season.

Wigan levelled eight minutes later when Hereford conceded a free kick on the left.

Spaniard Roberto Martinez cleverly lifted a high ball over the defence for Paul Rogers to head past Trevor Wood.

Two minutes before the interval Hereford restored their lead when they were presented with a gift by full back Charlie Bishop.

Bishop's clearance went straight to Carl Beeston who curled a shot past Butler.

Hereford took up the running again in the second period and were rewarded with their third in the 48th minute.

Rogers up-ended Adrian Foster midway in the Wigan half and from the free kick, full back Murray Fishlock beat Butler with a blistering shot.

Wigan sub Kevin Sharp missed a sitter when he shot wide from four yards.

Feb 4th:

Hereford United 1 Darlington 1

"After a good first half we played poorly so in the end I was delighted to pick up a point," manager Graham Turner told the Hereford Times.

"The irony is we have performed much better against Mansfield, Carlisle and Chester at home, for instance, and lost. But it is important we keep an unbeaten run going at Barnet on Saturday."

Feb 8th:

BARNET 2 Hereford 3

Hereford went into a 12th minute lead through Mika Kottila and Barnet were always on the ropes.

Chris Hargreaves and Adrian Foster made it 3-1 before Barnet pulled one back with a Paul Wilson penalty after Sean Devine was felled.

Barnet boss Alan Mullery lashed his players for 45 minutes after the whistle and then revealed: "I asked them why they took 70 minutes to play. They hadn't a clue."

Feb 16th:

Hereford United 1 Cardiff City 1

Hereford United's biggest gate of the season to date, 4967 including 1771 in the away end, watched an entertaining contest in which former Bull Gareth Stoker scored for the Bluebirds and then two minutes later was sent off.

Adrian Foster equalised early in the second half.

Feb 18th:

Rochdale 0 Hereford United 0

The Bulls extended their unbeaten run to six games in horrible conditions at Rochdale.

Feb 22nd:

LINCOLN 3 Hereford 3

John Williams' freak injury-time goal robbed Imps of a win they deserved.

Bulls' supersub Williams sent over a cross which caught in the wind and finished up in the top corner of the net.

Yet Lincoln always looked the better team and deservedly took the lead after 11 minutes though Steve Holmes, only for Trevor Matthewson to equalise just before the break.

Dean Smith put Hereford in front but Stuart Bimson equalised from a 61st minute free kick.

Colin Alcide fired in Lincoln's third before Williams struck.
